Winter Self-Care Bingo

At our recent Winter Yoga Retreat, I led a workshop on "Making Friends with Winter".

I asked - "How do you feel about Winter?" and there were some strong feelings - it was love it or hate it - with nothing much in between.
Winter in Chinese medicine is connected to the Water Element, which felt especially fitting as the weekend was filled with rain! Water is about trusting our inner wisdom to guide us. But how can we trust that wisdom if we can't hear it?
Finding stillness is key to connecting to our intuition, and hearing the messages sent by our heart and soul.
We explored what Winter and the Water Element invite us to do:
Slow down
Be present
Practice mindfulness
Conserve and build energy stores
Go within - a time for reflection and contemplation
All of these prepare us for the Spring - a season that encourages action, growth and to bring our ideas and creativity to life.

We then brainstormed ideas for how we can nourish our Water Element and came up with lots of easy to implement, supportive practices to protect and build our energy.
I've used these ideas as inspiration to create a self-care bingo sheet that you can download and play with your friends, family or just use as to spark new ways to nourish yourself.
How to play:
Download the card (print or use online version)
Set your Goal: - Do you want to complete a line (horizontal/diagonal/vertical) or the whole sheet
Choose a time frame: - a week, a month, for the rest of winter...?
Mark your squares: - Each time you complete an activity, mark that square
Celebrate your progress - When you get a bingo (a full line or the whole card), reward yourself with something special
Optional: Share and play together - Invite friends or family to join in. You can share your progress, swap ideas and celebrate your achievements.
There is also a blank bingo card, in case you'd like to create your own. Feel free to get creative - you might even like to make seasonal versions for Spring, Summer and Autumn - reflecting on the unique invitations that each season offers.

Winter is an invitation to slow down, listen and to nurture yourself. We hope this self-care bingo can help you make this a bit easier and a bit more fun!
Really ready to up your self-care game?
Consider booking a massage, a restorative sound bath, or a chakra balancing session to support your mind, body, and spirit through the season.
